To Practice the Subtle Art of Discipline | Excuse to Fish #803

When you don't have to get anything done, do you still put in the effort?

Do you still check something off the to-do list if nobody is watching, and you have all the time in the world to cross it off? Or do you need some pressure? Maybe you need a little more skin in the game.

Consequences are the only reason anything gets done.

For me, a writer, that means deadlines.

I typed these words at 4:46am this morning when I realized I had no email scheduled for today. I got out of bed to make the deadline.

Set a tiny goal today. With a deadline.

Then make sure you get it done.

Just for the practice.
