To Get to Those Gritty Little Details | Excuse to Fish #872

I call it being particular––others say neurotic. Either way, details are important. That's always where the problems come up on an otherwise-smooth day on the water. If you look at a particularly detailed, mundane task and decide to skip it, to wait until tomorrow, that's the exact thing that goes wrong. Have you ever thought about checking a knot after catching a fish? How many times do you just recast before checking? How often does your line break. 9/10 your line breaks right after not checking a knot. Before going anywhere, get to those details. Check your knots.

Sleeping in is a waste of daylight. Do what you love––go fishing. No excuses. This blog post was originally sent as part of my new daily newsletter series, An Excuse to Fish. If you like excuses to go fishing, a new one delivered to your inbox every morning, sign up for the daily newsletter.
