Laid out in perfect lines and shapes, a map of the coastline looks perfectly quaint––totally easy to understand with just a moment's glance.
The second you paddle more than three strokes out into the ocean however, you're instantly disoriented. What looked like a quarter-inch of distance on the map suddenly equals a two-hour paddle just to get to the spot.
We still have to paddle back.
Motorized fishing kayaks are everywhere, and everyone I know uses one to fish. Damn does that look nice.
Still, I can't help but getting lost in the suck, mixed in with all the beauty of the ocean, is what keeps me going back for another hit.
I just want to get lost in it all once again.
Sleeping in is a waste of daylight. Do what you love––go fishing.
