Hold a red-eared sunfish in the palm of your hand on a sunny day. Tell me that's not a work of art––it will also prick your hand with its fins...now. Sorry about that, but it's worth it. Most people pass sunfish and skip right to the "game fish," but with a lightweight rod and good vibes, catching a sunfish is some of the most fun you can have on the water. No matter what you throw at them, they're going to eat. They're just so gullible it almost breaks your heart to fool them. And to keep fooling them, all day long. I said almost.
Sleeping in is a waste of daylight. Do what you love––go fishing.
